  Racer

In Action

Racer was the star of the show one day at the 2004 NDTC (Franklin, TN) 4-day agility trial.  While working at an amazing speed on a particularly difficult Excellent course, Pat Higgins, Racer's owner and handler, fell as the team neared the end of the course.

While on the ground, Pat signaled Racer to enter the weave poles and continue working.  Racer took charge and worked the weaves like a machine, paused a moment to check on Pat and then dashed for the last 2 obstacles on the course.  Just as Racer crossed the finish line, Pat scrambled to his feet and met Racer at the exit gate.  By then the entire arena of spectators were on their feet cheering this unbelievable display of teamwork.  Pat and Racer won their class that day and the admiration of every agility handler that saw them.  That run was certainly one that I'll always remember.

Afterwards, I met Pat and Racer.  When I met Racer I was stricken by how wonderful his temperament was and how much of a "people" dog he was.  Racer has exceptional style and body sense - the quickness and focus that I look for in my agility and obedience dogs.  I am so happy that Pat and I have arranged for a Racer X Katie breeding.  These two dogs should produce some very talented performance dogs to say the least.
