Chapter Review Science Challenge

Objective: 

1.  Opposing teams will compete to gain the most points during each Chapter Review Round. 

Rules:

1.  The moderator will make team assignments. Each class member will be assigned to one of 2 teams.

Procedures:

1.  Each team will select a Team Captain who will assist the team in choosing a team name. 

2.  Each Team will assemble and have a plan so that each team member will have the opportunity to answer a question before any other team member answers for the second time.

3.  A “Response Light” (a device that lights up when you press it) will be given to the first contestant of each team.  The moderator will present a question in any format.  The contestant that lights their “response light” first wins the opportunity to answer the question for the team.  No other member of that team may answer the question.  If that contestant answers correctly, the team wins 1 point.  If the contestant answers incorrectly, the opposing team will be given the opportunity to answer the question for the point.  If the opposing team answers incorrectly, the moderator will move to another question for a new round.  Answers must be delivered within 5 seconds after the “response light” is lit.

4.  Once a team member has had the opportunity to answer a question, another team member must then be the contestant for the team until all team members have had a chance to answer a question.  Then the cycle is repeated.

5.  Contestants may consult other team members or notes but must answer within the 5-second time limit.

6.  Questions will be constructed reflecting the material in the text Chapter or from the lecture in class. 

7.  Occasionally, BONUS 2-point questions will be presented, but these questions may be on any subject.
